The challenge
The group was paying a percentage of every booking to a third-party reservations platform, and their existing site's booking widget frequently double-booked tables because it wasn't actually connected to the restaurant's real seating data.
The approach
We built the reservation flow natively into the theme: real-time table availability with database-level locking to make double-booking impossible, a conversational booking widget that asks for party size and time the way a host would, and confirmation via email with calendar invites. No commission, no third-party platform, no monthly booking fees.
The result
Reservations increased 40% in the first month alone, with zero double-bookings recorded in eighteen months of operation across multiple locations. The group also stopped paying booking commissions entirely โ the system paid for itself within the first few weeks.
